Please refer to our CORONA VIRUS notice HERE
We have full capability to deal with 99% of cases we see on a daily basis.
Those patients we feel need more complicated diagnostics or expert treatment we refer to specialist referral practices or Vet hospitals where state of the art equipment and expertise is available.
The facilities we provide are:-
- VETTEST LAB EQUIPMENT
enabling testing of blood samples for a large range of biochemistry and electrolyte parameters and Haematology to help diagnosis and monitoring of diseases.
for skin scrapings/ectoparasite diagnosis, semen testing, urine crystals, blood smears for anthrax and babesia, faecal worm egg counts.
We have a Digital X-RAY facility giving us wonderful clear pictures for diagnosis. This enables us to view bones, chests, abdomens, and teeth.
It is especially good for the Kennel Club Hip and Elbow scoring schemes to check dogs before breeding, for DYSPLASIA.
- ULTRASOUND SCANNER
Primarily used for early pregnancy checking in cattle from 28 days post service and for viewing pups at 3 to 4 weeks gestation in Bitches.
Also useful for checking for uterine infections in cattle and dogs. Can be helpful in diagnosing suspected abdominal problems in dogs and cats.
- ANAESTHESIA and SURGERY
We use gas [isoflurane] and oxygen routinely for most of our surgical operations with a fully trained receptionist monitoring anaesthesia.
We use an Ultrasonic scaler to clean teeth efficiently and a Micropolisher to leave them shining white. We use Micro cutting burrs to safely extract molars and canines when necessary. Advice is also provided on future measures to reduce or prevent Dental disease in the future.
We have a Vet living on site so we can keep very ill animals in overnight for continued therapy such as intravenous fluids to assist in recovery after surgery.
We have been using computerised records since 1984.All individual case information is stored on a bespoke Veterinary system enabling us to keep accurate track of each individual patient’s medical history.
This system is also used to produce Herd and Flock Health Plans for our farm clients.
- CATTLE HOISTS
We have 4 of these available for Farmers to borrow when they have ‘downer cows’ requiring assistance in rising.
- HOOF TRIMMING EQUIPMENT + CALVING AIDS + CASTRATION & DEHORNING EQUIPMENT
These key items are carried in all our Vets‘ cars at all times.
Out of hours Emergencies
Veterinary advice and assistance is available 24 hours a day.
During office hours please contact the surgery. Outside of these hours please continue to call 01229 716230 to speak to a receptionist.
